THOMAS GILREATH, CID, ASID    E-mail

Thomas Gilreath brings thirty-six total years of interior design experience to Stedman House. Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and has worked with Stedman House since 1977. Tom is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is Certified in Interior Design (CID) in the state of Virginia. Tom has worked on numerous residential projects throughout Virginia and the Southeast United States. Some of his larger commercial projects include Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, Lynchburg College, and McGuireWoods in Charlottesville.

PATRICIA NOLEN, CID, ASID   E-mail


Patricia Nolen has been an interior designer with Stedman House since 1981 and is our Director of Design. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, and prior to joining Stedman House, Pat taught various interior design courses and had her own consulting design business. Pat has been commissioned to design interiors from Palm Beach to New York, Chicago, and South Africa, as well as many homes and estates in the Charlottesville area. As an ASID and CID designer, her work has been photographed and published in both local and national publications.

Bev has a background in art and color and has fifteen years experience in Interior Design. A graduate of Mary Washington College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Bev studied under Ina Marxx at the Finishing School in New York. Bev had a local decorative painting business, and has painted faux finishes and murals in many Charlottesville homes. Bev worked for several years as a decorator for a local retail fabric and furnishings store prior to coming to Stedman House in 2002. In 2005, one of her rooms was featured during Historic Garden Week.

Colleen has been providing informal design services to friends and family for the past ten years and joined Stedman House in January 2007 to make her work official. Though she has an MBA from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and French from the College of William and Mary and has worked in finance, lobbying, and public relations in New York, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, her true passion is design. Working closely with Pat Nolen, Colleen has been involved in a number of recent projects including a farm in Gordonsville for a nationally-recognized celebrity and some properties in Ivy and Glenmore.
