What makes a designer respected and admired? EXPERIENCE. Judy has worked for clients with vacation homes from the top of Wintergreen Mountain to Stoney Creek in the valley; from destination resorts such as the Homestead to vacation homes at the finest beaches on the East Coast. KNOWLEDGE and COMMITMENT. Primary homes call upon designers' best skills to make each house, regardless of square footage, a home representing each family's individual taste, each with its own elegance. Judy Schilling has been an interior designer for 26 years including 17 years at Stedman House. A native of Texas, Judy attended Southern Methodist University, but has called Virginia home since 1985. Judy's clients include primary and secondary residences in central Virginia and the Washington DC metropolitan area, including Blair House, the official guest house of the President of the United States.

DORIS CLARK     E-mail

Originally hailing from Chatanooga, Tennessee, Doris Clark holds bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Tennessee. Doris has more than twenty-seven years of design experience and has been employed with Stedman House since 2000. EXPERTISE. A lover of color, Doris has an eye to create a space that will reflect the client's visualization. Doris has performed design services for commercial and residential clients in central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, as well as destination locations in the Outer Banks, North Carolina; Bald Head Island, North Carolina; Sanibel, Florida; and Phoenix, Arizona. Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, for whom Doris has performed many design services, is a continuing project. RECOGNITION. One of her recent projects, the Campbell home at Wintergreen, won the silver award in the 2008 Mountain Homes Magazine Beautiful Homes Contest.

LYDIA GWALTNEY, Allied Member, ASID    E-mail

After graduating from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina with a degree in Interior Design and French, Lydia joined the Stedman House team in 2006. Lydia is an allied member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and is currently studying to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam. In addition to serving as our Wintergreen office manager, she assists our designers with their projects while working on projects for her own clients.
